Arts&Crafts

In times of confinement and isolation I started thinking about going back to making shoes by myself at home, kind of like what it was back at London College of Fashion’s Cordwainers workshop but without any help from its wonderful technicians. That thought reminded me of William Morris and his initiative, in the middle of the Industrial Revolution, of going back to artisanal handcrafted products to fight the repetitive automatic aesthetic he despised. That was the starting point of the Arts&Crafts movement in England, heavily linked aferwards to all the versions of Art Nouveu across Europe. This sandal made with recycled and UPCYCLED bits by myself from my house and garden are a tribute to his ethos and values and the incredible imagery he generated.

Set Design, Photography and Styling by me.
